show no.2

2nd May - 15th June 2024

Mon - Sat, 10-5pm

Show No.2 brings together the work by six painters, with each collection rich in vibrant hues with nods towards warmer, sunnier days. We are thrilled to introduce our second series of still life paintings by Jay Harper alongside abstract depictions of the landscape and studies of interior compositions by St Agnes based painter, Justine Eavis. Also based on the north coast of Cornwall, Saul Cathcart shows a body of 7 paintings, full of expressive marks and colour. A new collection by Diane Whalley will sit alongside, with palettes of warm pinks, cobalt blues and sea greens. New to Morgans for Show No.2 are painters Jane Kell and Claudia Corbridge. Jane Kell’s compositions have a rich focus on colour with suggestions of lines and forms found within the exterior landscape - this collection also gives nods towards the shapes and curves found within the work of Barbara Hepworth and William Scott. Claudia Corbridge’s paintings immerse the viewer in the coastal landscape that surrounds her home - delicate depictions of the tranquil waters fill the canvas, with intense pools of turquoise. The exhibition will be on show until the 15th June.

a little about us -

We are a family business which has developed out of many years of experience in the Art and Design industries combined with our passion for Cornwall.

Owners Ann Morgan and Tony Holmes with their daughters Martha, Ella and Clara established Morgans with the purchase of 49 Arwenack Street in November 2019. Since then the building has been redesigned and managed by Tony using local craftspeople for the complete renovation to provide gallery space and artist studios.

Morgans exhibits a wide range of creative disciplines and encourages young and emerging talent alongside well established artists. Each show is curated by the family, with the intention of bringing bodies of work by the finest artists and makers to our customers.
