Based in Cornwall, Caroline Robinson creates large scale contemporary paintings, from her studio based at Krowji in Redruth.
Working usually in oils, her paintings are predominantly lyrical abstract, sometimes tipping into more gestural figurative. they are painted in an intuitive way, and take many months sometimes years to fully complete. here are often loose references to her love of art history, and the psychology of colour and its uses.
Caroline gains inspiration from nature, natural light and her personal experiences in life. Her paintings are emotive and thought provoking. usually painted on a large immersive scale. They are designed to be viewed as installations, submersing the viewer into the work. Her work is deeply personal, and each piece is a labour to produce, often manifesting for many months a sensation and presence and then painting in a continuous sitting to create the piece, and collection.
