ABOUT ELEANOR
"In my still life oil paintings, I am interested in the quiet beauty of domestic objects and their particular qualities, or ‘the thingness of things’ as described by Pablo Neruda. Jugs, vessels, implements, fruit, cloth: the ordinary things of the shelf or table, and the objects we find around us.
I am interested in creating a sense of tranquility, and in the process of looking, as well as exploring the relationship between close subtle tones and occasional bright colours. I want to show how light falls on a corner of an interior, or on the papery qualities of garlic or the bright solidity of a lemon or a tomato.”
