EXHIBITION NO.4
NO.4
3rd August - 16th September 2023
We are very excited to bring a summery collection of paintings, ceramics and furniture to Morgans, opening on the 3rd August until the 16th September.
Martha Holmes introduces a new collection of 40 paintings, worked on during a residency at Porthmeor earlier this summer. The works capture both the Penwith landscape found beyond the studio window, paired with still life compositions of the studio interior. The warm hues seen in her work sit alongside large canvases by Felicity Mara, a permanent resident at the Porthmeor Studios. Gestural marks and fluid shapes fill the canvas, with subtle hints of the space and landscape which surround her as she works. Lottie Hampson, new to Morgans, showcases a considered series of photopolymer etchings and drawings which will hang in the courtyard. Lottie describes her work as ‘a quiet meditation on her surroundings’ with the works encompassing elements of the space she inhabits.
Will Nock brings a large collection of furniture to Morgans for Show No.4, with works from both his ‘Mawnan’ and ‘Arvor’ ranges, including new designs such as the writing desk and console table. The soft marks and rhythms across his work pairs with the sense of human touch felt within Tor Harrisons latest body of hand built forms. Each vessel embodying the slow and rhythmic process of working with the clay.
One of Morgans studio artists, Julia Florence, introduces a series of vases and vessels drawing on the female form, with illustrative marks full of movement and femininity. Also sitting on our surfaces is a collection of tableware by Late Afternoon, reminiscent of warm afternoons in the Spanish sun.
