ABOUT INDIA
India Johnson is a painter, who lives and works on the Northerly Scottish islands of Orkney. India depicts island life through her paintings, which are inspired by the changing seasons, light and slower pace of life.
India explores the changing patterns in our daily routine through observing the domestic environment, and the changes we leave on our surroundings. She enjoys playing with colour and light to draw attention to changing arrangements in our homes.
This body of work was created during the springtime in Orkney, where the days dramatically lengthen and the light and shadows change. She hopes this new body of work will bring optimism for the new season, and a new appreciation for observing the environment around us.
This new body of work observes the changing seasons, new growth and a renewed appreciation for the vibrancy of Springtime.
