EXHIBITION No.4
No.4
our recent exhibition
Open Mon-Sat, 10-5pm
We are thrilled to introduce our summer exhibition at Morgans, showcasing a collection of paintings, ceramics and furniture.
A new collection of 35 paintings by resident Morgans artist, Martha Holmes, will sit across the gallery - landscapes with palettes of soft pinks and vivid greens hang alongside still life works depicting scenes in the studio and moments in her daily life. Ella Squirrell also returns to Morgans with a new body of work - driven by fascination with human emotion, her paintings feature semi-fictional portraits set in both real and imagined scenarios. New to Morgans for Show No.4 is London based painter, Lucy Giles. Lucy’s work has developed a strong visual signature, inspired by landscape and the everyday, always rich in colour. Lucy decodes sketchbook drawings made on location, capturing otherwise fleeting, missed moments which are later used to form compositions on the canvas, in oil paint, back in the studio. Lottie Hampson, whose work we introduced last summer at Morgans, shows a new series of pieces including framed polaroid photographs capturing still moments in nature and the home.
Another resident creative at Morgans, Julia Florence, exhibits a new concept in her work, developed over the past months following time spent in Greece. Wheel thrown vessels, with natural slips, are decorated with delicate ceramic shells and small nods to nature and the landscape that surrounded her greek travels. Local furniture maker Will Nock, shares a new collection of ‘Mawnan’ pieces including his signature console table and bench. Taking inspiration from textures and natural forms in the landscape surrounding his workshop, each piece is slowly crafted from oak and shaped using traditional hand tools.
