EXHIBITION No.5

No.5

5th October - 16th November 2024

Open Mon-Sat, 10-5pm

As we begin to notice the shift in seasons, we launch our new collection at Morgans, full of deep autumnal hues and rich mark making.

We are excited to introduce two new painters to Morgans for Show No.5. Firstly, West Penwith based painter Jack Davis shares a collection of oil paintings capturing the elemental landscape that he inhabits, drawing in particular on the vast open skies which shift in identity between weather fronts. Secondly, we introduce the paintings of Lynsey MacKenzie, who we first saw the work of during a residency in Newlyn. Her paintings on canvas embody diverse planes of colour, gesture and scale.

We welcome back to the gallery a new collection by Laura Menzies full of organic shapes, rich texture and gestural marks. Alongside, sits a series of calm paintings by Eleanor Dorrien-Smith on linen, depicting the natural shapes, curves and hues found within the landscape of the Isles of Scilly. Clara Holmes returns with a series of oil paintings capturing interior compositions in the home with bold colour palettes and rich forms. Finally, studies of still life moments by Sophie Harding bring a wonderful vibrancy and a sense of pattern to the collection.

Besides the paintings, a new ceramic collection by Björk Haraldsdóttir whose background in architecture and Icelandic upbringing, has lead to hand build vessels with tactile geometric patterns. Megan Burridge also shares new vessels formed from china clay deposits with nods to the landscape that surrounds her. Resting on the furniture is a new series of cushions by Hollie Palmer who uses traditional punch needle techniques to create colourful depictions of everyday life.
